He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and pursued fine art in college before earning an MFA in Painting & Drawing from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His body of work encompasses autobiographical graphic novels, humorous parodies, Star Wars-themed adventures, and the Lucy & Andy Neanderthal series. He has received awards such as the Ignatz and Eisner Awards, and his art has been exhibited in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. He lives in Chicago with his wife, two sons, and a cat.
