Jenny T. Colgan was born in 1972 in Prestwick, Ayrshire, Scotland, UK. After studying at Edinburgh University, she worked in the health service while also pursuing careers as a cartoonist, stand-up comic, and writer. Her first novel, Amanda's Wedding, was published in 2000, and in 2013 she won the Romantic Novel of the Year Award for Welcome to Rosie Hopkin's Sweetshop of Dreams. She is married to Andrew, a marine engineer, and has three children; she lives primarily in France with regular visits to London, and she occasionally writes for The Guardian and contributes to a TV series.
