Johann David Wyss

Johann David Wyss (1743–1818) was a Swiss author, best remembered for his 1812 book The Swiss Family Robinson. Said to have been inspired by Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, he wrote the story to teach lessons to his own children. The book was edited by his son Johann Rudolf Wyss and illustrated by another son, Johann Emmanuel Wyss.
