John Kenneth "Ken" Galbraith was a Canadian and later American economist, public official, and diplomat. He was a leading proponent of 20th-century American liberalism and a prominent public intellectual. His books on economic topics were bestsellers from the 1950s through the 2000s. Galbraith was a long-time Harvard faculty member and remained at Harvard University for half a century as a professor of economics. He was a prolific author, writing four dozen books, including several novels, and published more than a thousand articles and essays on various subjects. Galbraith's work leaned toward Post-Keynesian economics from an institutional perspective. He lived from 1908 to 2006.
