John P. Clark is an American philosopher, academic, and social scientist known for his work as a dialectician, author, environmental activist, and social theorist. He was a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Loyola University New Orleans and served as the Gregory F. Curtin Distinguished Professor in Humane Letters and the Professions. Currently, he is the director of the La Terre Institute for Ecology and Community in Dedeaux, Mississippi. He is the author and editor of several books and numerous articles, and he also writes under the pen name Max Cafard.
