Josh Malerman (born 1975) is an American novelist and songwriter who also works as a movie director, film producer, and cartoonist, and is the rhythm guitarist for the rock band The High Strung. He is best known for writing horror, particularly his post-apocalyptic novel Bird Box (2014), which inspired the Netflix film of the same name. In 2020 he founded the production company Spin a Black Yarn.
