Judith Tarr, born in Augusta, Maine, is an American author known for her work in the genres of Romance, Fantasy, and Science Fiction. She earned a B.A. in Latin and English from Mount Holyoke College in 1976, followed by an M.A. in Classics from Cambridge University. She later obtained an M.A. and a PhD in Medieval Studies from Yale University. From 1990 to 1993, she taught Latin at Wesleyan University. In addition to her writing, she breeds Lipizzan horses at Dancing Horse Farm, located in Vail, Arizona. She is also recognized as an American fantasy writer and historian.
