Junot Díaz (born December 31, 1968) is a Dominican American writer and creative writing professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also served as a former fiction editor at Boston Review. His work centers on the immigrant experience, especially the Latino immigrant experience. Díaz received the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for his novel The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. In 2012, he was awarded a MacArthur Fellowship, often referred to as a "Genius Grant."
