Kapilar, also known as Kabilar, was a Tamil poet of the Sangam period who contributed 206 poems, making him the most prolific poet of that era. His work constitutes a little less than 10% of the entire Sangam-era classical corpus, which was compiled by 473 ancient poets. He was highly regarded by his contemporaries and later poets, and his dates are variously estimated to be between c. 50–125 CE or 140–200 CE.
