Kathleen Erin Hogg, later known as Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, was born on June 3, 1939, in Alexandria, Louisiana, USA, as the youngest of eight children. She married U.S. Air Force Second Lieutenant Ross Eugene Woodiwiss in 1956, and the couple had two sons, Sean Alan and Dorren James. Her early life included raising her own stories as a child, and she later worked part-time as a fashion model in Japan.
