Laurentius Abstemius (c. 1440–1508), born Lorenzo Bevilaqua, was an Italian writer, humanist, and professor of philology, born at Macerata Feltria. A Neo-Latin writer of considerable talents during the Humanist revival of letters, he published his first works in the 1470s, distinguished by minute scholarship. He later moved to Urbino, where he became ducal librarian, while also teaching in other parts of Italy.
