Lisa Appignanesi is a writer and academic known for her work in literature and cultural studies. She has held positions including Deputy Director of the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London and was a founding member and editorial director of the Writers and Readers Publishing Cooperative. She has contributed to the arts through editing the Documents Series and establishing ICA television and the video Writers in Conversation series. In recognition of her contribution to literature, she has been honored with a Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French government.
