1 standalone book

Lothar-Günther Buchheim was a German author and artist who served as a wartime journalist under the Nazi regime. He worked as a war correspondent on ships and U-boats during World War II and is best known for his 1973 antiwar novel Das Boot, which was adapted into an Oscar-nominated film in 1981. His artworks, displayed in a gallery on the banks of the Starnberger See, include decorated cars and mannequins that blur the line between art and viewer. He was born in 1918 and died in 2007.
