Louis Becke (George Lewis Becke, 1855–1913) was an Australian short-story writer and novelist of the South Pacific region. He lived and worked among the Pacific Islands for some two decades as a trader, ship's supercargo, and villager before writing down his experiences, becoming a popular author of short stories, novellas, novels, and historical and ethnographic works. He is credited on our catalog with Admiral Phillip in the Builders of Greater Britain series.
