Lucius Apuleius, also called Lucius Apuleius Madaurensis, was a Numidian Latin-language prose writer, Platonist philosopher, and rhetorician born in the Roman province of Numidia. He studied Platonism in Athens, traveled widely, and famously defended himself against an accusation of using magic in a speech he later published as the Apologia. Our catalog credits him with The Fable of Cupid and Psyche in the Brocade series. (Summary adapted from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA 4.0.)
