Malcolm Floyd studied at London, Exeter, and Oxford Universities, and taught in Kenya for seven years. He won the Kenya Music Festival prize for performance on a traditional instrument in 1984. His work has been published in Kenya and Britain, and he served as editor of World Musics in Education. He is currently Senior Lecturer and Head of Music at King Alfred's, University College Winchester, and General Editor of Ashgate Studies in Ethnomusicology.
