Manning Coles is the pseudonym used by British writers Adelaide Frances Oke Manning and Cyril Henry Coles, who collaborated on spy thrillers and humorous novels. Their works featured the fictional character Thomas Elphinstone Hambledon, a Foreign Office agent, and included stories involving modern-day ghosts and the ghostly cousins Charles and James Latimer. The duo wrote under the pseudonym Francis Gaite for some humorous novels published in England, while the same works were released in the United States under the Manning Coles name. They were neighbors in East Meon, Hampshire, and both had connections to British intelligence and military service during the world wars.
