Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings

1 standalone book

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (1896-1953) was an American novelist. Before settling in the scrub country, she worked as a newspaperwoman in Louisville, Kentucky, and Rochester, New York. At 32, tired of an unsuccessful attempt at short-story writing, she used a small legacy to buy a 72-acre orange grove at Cross Creek, where the people and country inspired her writing. Two prizewinning stories and two praised novels followed, and her third novel, The Yearling, won a Pulitzer Prize.
