Martin Andersen Nexø

1 standalone book

Martin Andersen Nexø (1869–1954) was a Danish writer associated with the Modern Breakthrough movement, and more specifically its "popular breakthrough" current dominated by writers from humble social backgrounds. A socialist throughout his life, he moved to the Soviet Union during the Second World War and afterward settled in Dresden in East Germany. His outlook was shaped less by doctrinaire Marxism than by social outrage combined with humanism and religious idealism.
