Max Frisch was a Swiss playwright and novelist whose works explored themes of identity, individuality, responsibility, morality, and political commitment. His post-war writings often employed irony to examine these issues. He co-founded Gruppe Olten and received several literary awards, including the Jerusalem Prize in 1965, the Grand Schiller Prize in 1973, and the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1986. Frisch was born in 1911 and died in 1991.
