Henry Morgenthau (1856–1946) was a German-born American lawyer and businessman, best known for his role as United States ambassador to the Ottoman Empire during World War I. He was one of the most prominent Americans to speak out about the Greek and Armenian genocides, of the latter of which he stated it was "the greatest crime of the ages."
