Akiyuki Nosaka was a Japanese novelist, journalist, singer, lyricist, and member of the House of Councillors. He wrote the short story "Grave of the Fireflies," based on his experiences during the Second World War, which has been adapted into both an animated and a live-action film. He used the pseudonym Yukio Aki as a broadcasting writer and the stage name Claude Nosaka as a chanson singer. Nosaka was born in 1930 and died in 2015.
