Oğuz Atay (1934–1977) was a Turkish novelist. His first novel, Tutunamayanlar, appeared in 1971–72. Never reprinted in his lifetime and controversial among critics, it became a best-seller after a new edition was published in 1984 and, per a UNESCO survey, has been described as one of the most eminent novels of twentieth-century Turkish literature.
