The Office of Strategic Services (OSS) was a United States intelligence agency that operated from 1942 to 1945. It was established during World War II to coordinate espionage activities behind enemy lines for the U.S. Armed Forces. The OSS also engaged in propaganda, subversion, and post-war planning. It was the second non-departmental civilian intelligence agency in the United States, following the Office of the Coordinator of Information (COI).
