Ottaviano dei Petrucci

1 standalone book

Ottaviano dei Petrucci was an Italian printer known for his 1501 publication Harmonice Musices Odhecaton, a collection of chansons that is often mistakenly considered the first book of sheet music printed from movable type. His later works featured complex white mensural notation and small fonts, and he produced the first book of polyphony using movable type. He published compositions by renowned Renaissance composers such as Josquin des Prez and Antoine Brumel. Petrucci was born in 1466 and died in 1539.
