Pavel Petrovich Bazhov was a Russian writer and publicist who lived from 1879 to 1950. He is best known for his collection of fairy tales The Malachite Box, based on Ural folklore and published in the Soviet Union in 1939, and he also wrote several books on the Russian Revolution and the Civil War.
