Penelope Ruth Mortimer, born Penelope Ruth Fletcher, was a Welsh-born English journalist, biographer, and novelist. She is best known for her semi-autobiographical novel The Pumpkin Eater, published in 1962. The novel was adapted into a film of the same name in 1964.
