Procopius of Caesarea was a 6th-century historian from Caesarea Palestine. He accompanied the Byzantine general Belisarius in Emperor Justinian's wars. He wrote the History of the Wars, On Buildings, and the Secret History. His works made him the principal historian of the 6th century.
