Rachel Renée Russell is an American author and former attorney born on March 13, 1959, in Saint Joseph, Michigan. She is best known for creating the Dork Diaries middle-grade book series, which follows the diary-style adventures of tween protagonist Nikki Maxwell and has sold over 45 million copies in more than 40 languages worldwide. Russell also created The Misadventures of Max Crumbly series, and her daughter Nikki collaborates with her as the illustrator for the Dork Diaries books.
