Randall Garrett was an American science fiction and fantasy author who wrote during the 1950s and 1960s. He contributed frequently to science fiction magazines, including Astounding. Garrett is best known for the Lord Darcy series, the novel Too Many Magicians, and two collections of short stories. He was also known for his love of puns, once defining a pun as "the odor given off by a decaying mind." He was a frequent guest at science fiction conventions. Garrett was born in 1927 and died in 1987.
