Rebecca West, born Cecily Isabel Fairfield, was a British author, journalist, literary critic, and travel writer. She contributed book reviews to The Times, the New York Herald Tribune, The Sunday Telegraph, and The New Republic, and served as a correspondent for The Bookman. Her notable works include Black Lamb and Grey Falcon, A Train of Powder, The Meaning of Treason, The Return of the Soldier, and the "Aubrey trilogy" comprising The Fountain Overflows, This Real Night, and Cousin Rosamund.
