Reiner Schürmann (1941–1993) was a German philosopher who wrote all of his major published work in French. From 1975 until his death he was a professor of philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York City. Deeply influenced by Heidegger, Meister Eckhart, and contemporary continental thought, he developed a radical critique of metaphysical and political first principles centered on analyses of broken hegemonies, singularity, and non-foundational praxis.
