René Daumal was a French spiritual para-surrealist writer, critic and poet, best known for his posthumously published novel Mount Analogue (1952) as well as for being an early, outspoken practitioner of pataphysics. He was born in 1908 and died in 1944. Daumal was a poet and novelist who contributed to the surrealist movement and explored philosophical and metaphysical themes in his work. His literary output was marked by a blend of spiritual inquiry and experimental writing.
