Richard Yates

1 standalone book

Richard Yates (1926–1992) was an American fiction writer associated with the mid-century "Age of Anxiety." His first novel, Revolutionary Road, was a finalist for the 1962 National Book Award. His first short story collection, Eleven Kinds of Loneliness, drew comparisons to James Joyce. Despite critical acclaim, Yates did not achieve significant commercial success during his lifetime. Interest in his work revived after his death, partly due to an influential 1999 essay by Stewart O'Nan, a 2003 biography by Blake Bailey, and the 2008 film adaptation of Revolutionary Road, which was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe.
