Lieutenant General Robert Stephenson Smyth Baden-Powell, 1st Baron Baden-Powell, was a British Army officer and writer who founded the Scout Movement. He served as its first Chief Scout and authored the first editions of Scouting for Boys, a foundational text for the movement. Baden-Powell also co-founded the Girl Guide/Girl Scout Movement with his sister, Agnes. He was born on 22 February 1857 and died on 8 January 1941.
