Rosemary Rogers was born Rosemary Jansz on 7 December 1932 in the British colony of Ceylon, now Sri Lanka, to Dutch-Portuguese parents. She was raised in a privileged colonial environment and later moved to London, where she met her second husband, Leroy Rogers, an African-American. She became a writer, producing romance novels that reflected her literary influences and personal experiences.
