Alexis Leger, known by the pseudonym Saint-John Perse, was a French poet and diplomat. He was awarded the 1960 Nobel Prize in Literature for the soaring flight and the evocative imagery of his poetry, which reflects the conditions of his time. He was born in 1887 and died in 1975.
