Scott McCloud, born Scott McLeod on June 10, 1960, is an American cartoonist and theorist known for his work on comics as a distinct literary and artistic medium. He is best known for his non-fiction books about comics, including Understanding Comics (1993), Reinventing Comics (2000), and Making Comics (2006). These works also employ the medium of comics. McCloud has presented his ideas through public talks, including a TED talk. His writings explore the unique qualities of comics and their potential as a form of storytelling.
