Sei Shōnagon

Sei Shōnagon was a Japanese author and court lady who served the Empress Teishi around the year 1000 during the middle Heian period. She is the author of The Pillow Book, a work that remains one of the most significant literary contributions from the Heian era. Sei Shōnagon was born in 966 and died in 1025.
