Shane Timothy Ahyong is an Australian zoologist who specialises in marine invertebrates. He has worked as a senior principal research scientist at the Australian Museum since 2010. He previously served as a post-doctoral researcher at the Australian Museum and managed the Marine Biodiversity and Biosecurity Group and the Marine Invasives Taxonomic Service at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in New Zealand. Ahyong is recognised as an Australian carcinologist.
