Shih-chen Li

Li Shizhen was a Chinese polymath and scientist of the Ming dynasty. He was an acupuncturist, herbalist, naturalist, pharmacologist, physician, and writer. Li is known for authoring the Compendium of Materia Medica, a 27-year work that included methods for classifying herb components and medications. He died in 1593.
