Silvanus Phillips Thompson

Silvanus Phillips Thompson was an English professor of physics at the City and Guilds Technical College in Finsbury, England. He was elected to the Royal Society in 1891 and authored works on physics and electrical engineering. Thompson is best known for his 1910 book Calculus Made Easy, which remains in print, as well as other texts on electricity and magnetism and biographies of scientists like Lord Kelvin and Michael Faraday. He lived from 1851 to 1916.
