Silvester

Sylvester was a priest of the Cathedral of the Annunciation and a close advisor to Ivan IV. He influenced Ivan and the Russian government through the Chosen Council from 1549 to 1560. He later withdrew to the Kirillov monastery and then the Solovetskii monastery, changing his name to Spiridon, and died before 1580. He is described by Ivan as a traitor and conspirator.
