Silvia Federici is an Italian American scholar, teacher, and feminist activist who is a professor at Hofstra University in New York. A feminist militant since 1960, she was a leading figure in international debates on the condition and remuneration of domestic work. During the 1980s she taught for several years in Nigeria, where she witnessed a new wave of attacks on the commons.
