Stephanie Bond grew up in Olive Hill, eastern Kentucky, on a tobacco farm with one brother and one sister. She attended Morehead State University on an academic scholarship, studying computer programming, and during her time there, she bought and operated a shoe store with her mother's assistance. After graduating in 1987, she sold her retail business and began working for a Fortune 100 petroleum company, advancing in her computer career while pursuing a master’s degree at night. Encouraged by an instructor to submit to academic journals, she began writing romance fiction in her spare time, which led to her first Harlequin comedy, Irresistible.
