Ota Gyuichi (1527-1613) was a Japanese military figure, statesman, historian and writer born in Owari who served as a guard-archer to Oda Nobunaga and was later promoted to bodyguard and, after 1568, to an administrative post. He compiled the historical record known as the Chronicle of Lord Nobunaga and, after Nobunaga's death in 1582, served his successor Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
