Thomas Mokopu Mofolo was a Lesotho novelist regarded as the first African novelist and the greatest author to write in an African language. He composed three works in Sesotho between 1905 and 1910, which were later widely translated. His body of work consists of three books written in Sesotho during that period. Mofolo was born in 1876 and died in 1948.
