Majd ad-Dīn Usāma ibn Murshid ibn ʿAlī ibn Munqidh al-Kināni al-Kalbī, known as Ibn Munqidh, was a medieval Arab Muslim poet, faris, and diplomat from the Banu Munqidh dynasty of Shaizar in northern Syria. He lived during a period marked by the rise of medieval Muslim dynasties, the arrival of the First Crusade, and the establishment of the crusader states. His work reflects the cultural and political context of his time.
