Väinö Valtteri Linna (1920–1992) was a Finnish author and former soldier who fought in the Continuation War (1941–44). He gained literary fame with his novel Tuntematon sotilas (The Unknown Soldier) and consolidated his reputation with the trilogy Täällä Pohjantähden alla (Under the North Star). Both works have been adapted for film on several occasions.
