Varāhamihira (505–587), also known as Varaha or Mihira, was an Indian astronomer, mathematician, and astrologer who lived in Ujjain. He is recognized as one of the nine jewels (Navaratnas) of the court of the legendary king Vikramaditya, believed to be the Gupta emperor Chandragupta II Vikramaditya. A 6th-century Hindu polymath, he is best known for his work Brihat Samhita, a comprehensive treatise on various subjects including astronomy, mathematics, and astrology. His contributions significantly influenced Indian scientific and astrological traditions.
